St. Boniface

St. Boniface is an area of the city of Winnipeg, home to the Franco-Manitoban community. It features such landmarks as the Cathédrale de Saint Boniface (St. Boniface Cathedral), Boulevard Provencher, the Provencher Bridge, Esplanade Riel, St. Boniface Hospital, the Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface and the Royal Canadian Mint. It covers the southeast part of the city and includes le Vieux Saint-Boniface (Old St. Boniface) and Norwood, which have average sale prices of $233,136 and $245,124 respectively.  A wonderful neighbourhood just a bridge away from downtown Winnipeg.

Windsor Park and Southdale are nieghbourhoods within St. Boniface, and the average sale price for a home is $268,415 and $257,843 respectively.  Windsor Park is bordered by Marion St. on the north, Archibald Ave on the west, Lagimodiere Blvd on the east, and Fermor Ave on the south.  The neighbourhood mainly contains homes built in the 1950s-60s, generally of the bungalow style. Southdale is bordered on the east by the rural ridings of La Verendrye and Springfield, to the south by Seine River, to the north by Radisson and St. Boniface, and to the west by Riel and St. Vital. Its character is mostly middle class, and 12% of Southdale's residents are francophone.

Southland Park, Royalwood, Sage Creek and Island Lakes have an average sale price of $443,643.

Most of Central St Boniface was built at the turn of the century, with some buildings in Old St Boniface earlier than that. The old commercial district along Provencher has recently received a facelift as a result of a CORE Area Initiative project. The Norwood area is a nice residential area with well-maintained homes on tree-lined streets, and the riverside Lyndale Drive (along the River) is popular with runners and cyclists.
